Frequently asked questions
Is Trypup free?
Yes. The app is free to download and you can complete the whole 30-day challenge, including the evaluation, without paying. Premium is optional: it adds more breeds, starting shared care, three premium articles and the care timeline.
Do I really have to go outside? Does it work without location?
Walks are real: the app measures them with GPS and your route stays on your phone. If you don't allow location, or someone else walks the dog, you can log the walk manually — the dog gets its walk, it just isn't measured by GPS.
Is Trypup suitable for children?
Trypup is for anyone seriously thinking about getting a dog, including families deciding together. We recommend that younger children play together with a parent. If you choose "Under 16" on first launch, the app collects no analytics, offers no purchases and sends no push notifications.
What happens if I don't take care of the dog?
The dog never dies in the app. If it goes without care for several days, it goes to a shelter and the app explains what it was missing. Then you can start again — with no consequences for a living animal.
Do I need an account?
No. Trypup works without an account, and your dog and progress then stay only on your phone. An account is optional: it backs up your progress to the cloud in the EU and is needed for shared care with your family.
What if I want to keep going after 30 days?
You can. After the evaluation and final quiz, you simply keep caring for your dog. And if you'd rather skip the challenge, choose Classic care ("For life") when you set up your dog: it grows up with you at its own pace, with no final quiz. Both options are free.
